I really have to post today, because it is 11-12-13, and I won’t see the next sequential number, ninety years away on 1-2-3. (That is, for most of the world, where dates are recorded logically in day/month/year order.) I’ve also published this at 2.15 (so my post is dated 11-12-13 14:15), but I’m not sure that you will see this.
After the frenzy of November blogging, putting thoughts on screen this month has been difficult. The month is racing by, my list of things-to-do seems to be getting longer rather than shorter, and I am contemplating how to earn a living over the next ten to fifteen years. So you can see why my head has been filled with other things.
I’ll get back to it. I am particularly keen to write a travel post taking you on a road trip up the North Island. And I’m about to head south on a pre-Christmas trip to see my mother and sister, so I might write about that too. But we will talk soon. I promise.
As long as you promise not to be silent for too long…

So, when you mention the date, do you say it’s December 11th or do you say it’s 11 December? I’m strictly talking about speaking, not writing – just curious.
Enjoy your trip!

We say 11 December, or 11th of December. The only time we reverse it is to refer specifically to that day in the US, as “September 11.” Otherwise, we would talk about the 11th of September.

What Helen said. Miss you. But I know how the days fly by…

Let us know how the future shapes up. And thanks for bringing up that weird date.

Erm, something’s gone wrong with either my brain or your wordpress, because I can’t figure out how to post on “Nostalgia”. Anyway, I just wanted to say it was a lovely post – the bit about the elevator reminded me of my granny, who remembered the first car in her town and always wanted her grandkids to “count the cars”, which was a bit impractical in a 90s multi storey car park.
I also liked the bit about you rolling down the hill and going to the amusement arcades… it made me think about all the things in childhood I enjoyed.

That’s very weird. I can’t see how to comment on that post either. I will investigate.
And thanks for the nice comments. They are appreciated, because I did wonder if my memories were a bit mundane and I was scratching to find anything post-worthy.

I wish I’d read this earlier — I didn’t event think about the date being sequential like that, but of course, I’m in the States where we seem to do a lot of things oddly.
