Several weeks ago, I decided – in a fit of procrastination when I had other things to do (you guessed it, they were tax related!) – to read all the #MicroblogMondays* posts, and comment on them. So much for the rationing I had promised myself after the first #MicroblogMonday. I’d been to the dentist, and my mouth was sore, and I didn’t really feel like doing other things. At first I really enjoyed reading these mini-posts (though some people clearly don’t understand the meaning of the word micro). But by the time I finished, I was exhausted. Posts that deserved better comments than just “Lovely” or “Happy Birthday” didn’t get them. A few posts that deserved some words didn’t get any at all, partly because Google and WordPress were conspiring against me and not allowing me to comment, and partly because I was pressed for time with so many other posts to read.
I don’t think I will do that again. Blogs and bloggers deserve my attention and thoughts – I’m not sure that rote-commenting does any of us justice.
