Show us your pumpkin before and after whatever you chose to do to it. Does pumpkin soup or pumpkin pasta or pumpkin gnocchi count?

Write blog post inspired by the following word: baby. I have a separate blog based on the fact there is no baby, so no, this does not inspire me.

It’s hot, the kids are home and crazy, our pets are panting, the days are long…share your Summer Survival Tips. Summer is often very peaceful for me, so my only survival tip is not to get sunburnt, and I’ve written before about that.

10 Reasons why you love your job. I love that I don’t have one?

List 10 vacations you wouldn’t hate taking. This prompt really puzzles me, because there would be few vacations I would hate taking, and finding those would be much more interesting and challenging than listing ones I “wouldn’t hate,” and so I’ll store that idea away for the future.

List your top 10 favourite candies. Whilst I do have a sweet tooth, I hardly ever buy candy, or as we say here, lollies, not even chocolate, and I don’t seek them out, as if I’m going for something sweet, I’d rather have some baking or my favourite gingernut ice-cream.

Share 7 gifs that best express how you’re feeling today. This blog is all about words, and the occasional photo but which usually backs up my words, rather than replaces them, so you can forget the gifs that would show me slightly annoyed (but only because of this prompt, and an interview I just heard, and, okay, the weather), a little chilly (but that’s only because I need to turn the heater on in my office here), and actually, quite tired.

Share a photograph that is not on your wall, but should be…if you weren’t so lazy about actually putting it there. The one thing I haven’t been lazy about over the years is displaying my photos, whether it is on a screensaver here on my computer screen, or in those digital photo frames, or on my black-and-white travel wall, or the family photos I have displayed, although I do have a photography challenge from my course to take a photo worthy of being on my wall, and I’m not sure I’ve done that this year, other than these two (which you’ve seen before) that might be nice in a frame or on a canvas.

Create a list of your top favourite costume choices for this year.

I’ve never been into costumes, and never had the need to, especially as Halloween is not something many of us engage in here, certainly not those of us who don’t have kids or nieces/nephews in the same town.

Show us your pumpkin before and after whatever you chose to do to it.

Putting aside the fact that this sounds semi-risque, I think that the before and after of a pumpkin soup, which could be a particularly boring post (not that this is knocking it out of the park!) given that there are pumpkin recipes everywhere on the internet (even though I make a yummy one – hint, don’t ever use potato), and the before and after of pumpkin gnocchi (which I’ve written about before), would just be repetitive, though the mere thought of it makes me salivate.

Share a slow cooker recipe you love.

Besides the fact that it is spring, and slow cookers are going into an annual hibernation as we say good-bye to slow food and hello to salads and barbecues, I don’t own a slow cooker, because I would need to be organised and plan meals ahead to use it, and I tend to cook whatever I have in the fridge, usually as a quick curry or stir-fry, and besides, where would I put it?

Give 10 reasons why you’re glad it’s Fall.

I’m not writing this one for an obvious reason, given that I live in New Zealand (kinda the reason I’m not writing any of the other posts too), and I’m not glad it’s Fall because a) it’s not, and b) we never call it Fall here, as the correct word is Autumn; though to be fair I might write a version of this next April, as I can be quite fond of autumn, but only if we have a decent summer, and that’s never guaranteed … though today it is at least looking (and feeling) promising.

(because I’m an adult)

  1. Write about what you love most about not living at home with your parents.
  2. Top 10 reasons why you are glad you are done with school
  3. Write a list of 10 reasons why you could not be a real housewife from any county.
  4. If you were reborn as a dog, what breed would you be and why?
  5. If you had to choose a Disney princess to live the rest of your life as, which princess would you choose and why?
  6. Show us your favourite place to catch Pokemon.
  7. What is on your Spring Break “to do” list?
  8. If you had to dress your pet up for Halloween this year, show us the outfit you would choose.

Write a poem for your mother.
Sadly, my mother isn’t in a state to either read or understand a poem anymore – even if I was capable of poetry – though I am sure that music would always have spoken to her more anyway.

Create a summer playlist and share it.
Who creates playlists now we have Spotify to do it for us?

Share a post you wrote but didn’t press publish.
If I didn’t publish it, there was a good reason!

Analyze a popular song you heard on the radio (present or past) –  what exactly does it all mean?
That sounds too much like a school project, and would not enlighten any of us!

Spring Cleaning – share a before and after photo of a room you recently tackled.  I’m still basking in the glory of my updated linen cupboard of several years ago, or the draws I rearranged (for the change of seasons) a few weekends ago. I’m laughing hysterically (whilst feeling slightly guilty) at the idea of having a room I “recently tackled.”

Share a favourite Valentine’s tradition. I don’t have any, I don’t really like the idea of Valentine’s Day, but maybe that’s because my wedding anniversary falls just before Valentine’s and so by the time the 14th arrives, we’ve already had enough compulsory romance for that month/year!

List ten favourite snacks growing up. We simply didn’t snack – we rarely had processed foods in the house, and besides there was no time. We had three meals a day, structured morning and afternoon teas, and a late supper (effectively a hot drink and a biscuit*) about 9.30 at night, and we were all slim.

I needed inspiration for a Monday post, and looked at a list of potential topics I get sent weekly by email. I guess I found inspiration, in that these are suggestions I will not be writing about, for obvious reasons:

  • Find a photo of yourself taken 10 years ago and display it on your blog along with a current photo, and write about how you’ve changed.
  • Use a recent Instagram photo to inspire a blogpost.
  • Choose the 7th picture you took in January and write a poem about it.
  • Childhood pet – where are they now?
  • Ask a parent to describe what you were like as a small child.
  • Look back at the resolutions you made last year at this time – how did you do?
7th photo I took in January - but no poem!
