(The 19th in a continuing series)
Charlie might be 16 now, but she still has a few things to teach me:
- The prospect of independence at 16 is intoxicating. So NZ’s new (since I learned to drive!) and more restricted approach to issuing driving licences is very very sensible.
- Work hard and play hard, but take time to rest too
- Some teen music is very good
- Teenagers are both adults and children, and that conflict drives them and everyone else a bit crazy!
- Dreams are wonderful to have
- We all need time to chill out after being disappointed or angry
- It takes time to truly understand the value of money
- Nature in its glory is worth appreciating (I knew that, but I didn’t know teenagers knew it!)
Not sure about my home province, but Ontario has adopted a gradual licensing system for new young drivers since we moved here — sounds like you’ve done something similar there!
