- When do people ever have the time to listen to podcasts?
- How can someone have a workout and then not shower afterwards?
- Why would you bother buying a Maserati four-door sedan?
- Why did the plural “there are” disappear (particularly in speech), and when did “impact” become a verb (with a nod to my friend who once titled his blog, “Impact is not a verb”)?
- What is the attraction of selfies?
- By deliberately not revealing our 2017 holiday destinations yet, have I made it an inevitable anti-climax when I finally do, and will I know when it is the right time to do the big reveal?

- Is it obvious that five of these questions had been recorded for this post for a while, and three of them were made up on the spot to get to eight sentences?
Eight Miscellaneous Questions

Why is procrastinate such a LONG word for avoidance of something? I really must find time to commit to writing my blog again.
I’m also hoping if you’re anywhere near here, that I won’t be far away in Scotland!

1. During workouts and household chores. 2. When one works at home and is immediately sucked into work again after an at-home workout. 3. I would not. 4. I still avoid impact as a verb but in speech, I sometimes like to say There’s when I shouldn’t. I edit it in print, of course. 5. I have none. 6. Maybe, and maybe. 7. Again, maybe. 8. Well, it is now.

Answer to question #1. While cooking dinner, while taking a walk, while driving to Illinois, while eating dinner if the spouse is agreeable, while doing dishes, while ironing.

1. For me, when editing pictures or washing dishes. 2. If it’s at a gym, I know there are some people phobic about public showers, who would rather head home sweaty (not me). 3. No idea. 4. Good question. 5. Again, no idea. 6. Not necessarily and probably. 7. Not if you’re anything like me. 8. Nope, not a bit.

Laughing over some of these. I listen to podcasts if I have a drive over 10 minutes long, which isn’t often. For instance, I save up podcasts and will listen to a bunch in a row when I have a two hour drive once a month.
I am not a selfie taker, but my understanding is that people like to remember themselves in a certain space or at a certain event; not just the space or the event itself.

The podcast thing gets me too. I keep thinking that it would be great to find a few but when would I listen to them?

1) As I drive to work. But I usually forget to download them and I hate pausing in the middle of one and resuming on the drive home, so I don’t listen to many.
2) No clue. I think not showering after working out is gross.
3) No clue. Same goes for a Porsche SUV. Why? Just why?
4) I’d never thought about this before. Something to ponder.
5) No clue, again. The front facing camera on my phone adds approximately 9000 pounds to my face.
6) No. I think you should do a “where in the world is Mali” photo series, and the first to guess your location(s) correctly “wins” a postcard mailed from that location.
7) I think it’s more a question of why bother tidying your office? It’s only going to get untidy again. 🙂
8) I couldn’t tell.

Been trying too. No time for podcasts, sadly.

I was going to answer the podcast quesiton, but it looks like you’ve had some good responses already, so I guess I’ll tackle selfies. To me, it’s just a way to put yourself into a particular setting. Back in the day, we would have asked someone to take the photo for us. Now it’s easier to be in the photo without handing over your camera.

Excellent questions. Excellent responses. Excellent counter questions. Excellent.

Every couple of days I tell myself I’ll put some podcasts on my ipod to listen to on the way to work, but do I ever?!? And just sitting down and listening to a podcast seems like an outlandish luxury, more so than reading, for example. The only person I know who says “I listened to this great podcast” is a stay-at-home mom whose kids are both in school all day. Hmm.

Ha ha! Fun questions. One from my side – How can people sell stuff on Instagram without putting a price up and asking to DM? 😛

1) I do not understand the whole podcast thing. Not at all. I’m not an auditory learner, so I would find my mind drifting and discover I’ve missed important parts of what was said. I cannot listen while driving because #kids. I cannot listen while making dinner because #kids. I cannot listen while cleaning or doing laundry because, you guessed it #kids. I could listen in the shower but that is also the only time I get to decide what cheesy 80’s-90’s music I get to listen to and well, I sort of like that better…
2) This is easy – don’t exercise! Ok, ok….. If I got all sweaty I’d have to shower. If I went for a walk and didn’t, then no.
3) I didn’t know this existed. Seems silly. I guess people who have money to burn and a dedication to labels/brands?
4) I blame technology and #texting…
5) I think selfies can be fun, but if someone’s Instagram feed is all selfies, I think they are either a tad narcissistic or much too into the fad.
6) I second the above idea of a “Where in the world is Mali?” reveal. This sounds fun!
7) Someone once told me we can always find the time to do the things we like, it’s all about priorities. I’m sure once the room gets beyond your comfort level of messy you will straighten it up! 🙂
8) No, this was not obvious to me initially, but now I am trying to figure it out….

I’m curious about #3–is it obvious why someone would buy a two-door Maserati but not a 4-door version, or are you wondering why someone would buy a Maserati versus something like a Toyota Yaris? Personally, i wouldn’t be caught dead in a Maserati… I’m saving up for a Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita.

I had to laugh at the idea of wondering why you’d buy a Maserati instead of a Toyota Yaris! The four door version looks like a family car, but sounds like a sports car. Good luck saving!

This was fun, both the questions and the answers above!! lol I have a couple of podcasts I keep meaning to listen to — but I find I can’t multitask — listen and do something else at the same time. One task or the other will suffer. But to find an hour to sit in a chair & do nothing but listen & focus — it’s hard sometimes!
